Do members have to maintain a USGA handicap?
No. You are not required to maintain a USGA handicap to become a member. An official USGA handicap, however, is required to participate in the EWGA Championship Series and a few of the competitive CNY Chapter events. We do think maintaining a handicap is a great idea, as it is a great way to allow you to gauge your progress with your golf skills and to level the playing field when playing with golfers of other skill levels. You may maintain your handicap through the new EWGA Golf Life Management System, coordinated by the Association and the local Chapter. There is no additional cost for this service. For more information on what a handicap is and how to get one, read our Establishing a Handicap.
