No, medications for Parkinson’s disease (PD) do not help ET. Symptoms of PD are caused by changes in dopamine levels in the brain. Serotonin levels are affected in ET. Although PD may look like ET to an untrained eye, PD tremor, generally, occurs at rest. Tremor due to ET occurs during action. PD also causes progressive slowness, stiffness and loss of balance.
