Do many foods offer nutrient density?
No, as a matter of fact, most foods in our modern diet are actually known as “empty calorie” foods. In other words, they offer calories, but very little else. Sometimes they are fortified with a couple of select vitamins and minerals, but are severely deficient in other vitamins and minerals, enzymes, trace minerals, fiber, and anti-oxidants. To make matters worse, empty calorie foods, in order to be utilized for energy, leech nutrients from the body to complete the task. This causes further deficiencies which can ultimately lead to dis-ease.
