Do males hunt?
Yes. Males are excellent hunters and while their great bulk may inhibit them from bringing down swift prey, their strength enables them to bring down large prey like buffalos. When young males leave their natal pride they have to survive without the support of females for several years. During this time they survive using their own hunting skills. Having said that, given the opportunity, males will scavenge kills from other predators, and take kills from female lions.
