Do magick spells really work?

Assuming no drugs or other active ingredients are used, a spell will only work if a.) the subject of the spell both believes in the power of magic and is aware a spell has been cast and b.) the intended outcome of the spell is something that can be attained through the activity or psychological ability of the person on whom the spell was cast. In other words, the person must believe in magic and must be aware of the spell and the spell must be able to manifest itself through feeling or some other subjective way. So, a spell cast to turn a person in to a frog won’t work, but a spell cast intending for a person to feel ill or fall in love/lust certainly can.
