Do lots of regional airline pilots quit their job because of low pay, schedule, stress, etc?

After 4 years at a regional airline I finally just up and quit and I didn’t have another job to go to. I had become a captain quite high on the seniority list, but I still had lousy pay, lousy schedules, high stress, and the management was so hostile there was a company-wide morale problem. It just wasn’t any fun, I wasn’t getting any major airline interviews, and it finally got to me so I decided it was better for both my physical and mental health if I got out. I was so “burned out” on it that I didn’t even bother to look for another flying job for a couple years and went back to school instead. I eventually ended up being a bush pilot in Alaska for several years and I’m now a corporate pilot. I still don’t make great money but I’m much happier than I ever was as a regional airline pilot. If I hadkept on I surely would havehad stomach ulcers and would have been the grumpiest pilot in existence. That’s not everyone’s experience of course, but if you don’t think you could survive 5 -10
