Do local weather events affect the forecast?
Local weather systems can override the forecast but only in related local areas. Increases in positive ion ratios are seen prior to thunderstorms, in some cases as much as a day in advance. Low-pressure systems also increase the positive ion ratio, which is probably why weather sensitive people tend to complain of aches and pains before the arrival of storms. Positive Ions increase the sensitivity to pain and negative ions reduce it.
