Do LEP students have to take the same state tests as the English-speaker students?
All LEP students must be included in the statewide testing program. The English language proficiency test results from the most recent administration is used to determine the students’ participation in statewide testing under one of the following conditions: • Standard administration without accommodations – LEP students who score Superior on the IPT reading test are not eligible for accommodations in statewide content assessments (e.g., end-of grade, high school comprehensive, and end-of-course) with the exception of writing. LEP students who score Superior on the IPT writing test are not eligible for accommodations in writing statewide assessments. • Standard administration with accommodations – LEP students who score below Superior on the IPT reading test are eligible for accommodations in statewide content assessments (e.g., end-of grade, high school comprehensive, and end-of-course) with the exception of writing. LEP students who score below Superior on the IPT writing test are el
