Do left handed people use scisores the same way as a right handed person?
Yes, left handed people do the same things when learning as do right handed people. When I teach young children to use scissors I always first show them the difference of the scissors. There is a smaller space for the thumb and a little larger place for the fingers. Show him so he is aware. Then once his hand is in position I have them practice in the air and tell them when they are cutting the thumb should always face up to the sky, this will help them to visually be aware of position. Tell him to open then close, open then close, this will give him a feel of the proper position. Next show him how to hold the paper and cut, with younger children they can practice cutting without the use of lines, as their fine motor muscles strengthen cutting on the line will come later. Just let him have fun cutting paper, magazines, or whatever material you have available.
