Do leaders of religious cults enjoy manipulating and controlling others?

In my opinion, I do believe that some may enjoy that, but I suspect they enjoy the benefits of doing those things to people…usually a monetary motive, but we have seen other motives surface in the various cults throughout history. As for the “psychological” whys of these people, the common denominators from a Christian’s understanding would include the denial of the power of God, misunderstanding completely Who they are misrepresenting, a desire to be highly esteemed among people, pride…all things that come originally from man’s own sinful nature. But in their case, this is the direction it shows itself in.
