Do laxatives (Ex-Lax) interact with birth control pills (Levora)?
• A: Ex-Lax is a stimulant laxative used to irritate the bowels and cause a bowel movement. Side effects of Ex-lax can be abdominal pain and nausea. Ex-lax or stimulant laxatives should not be used for longer than 1 week without consulting a physician. Levora is a form of birth control. There is no interaction between Ex-lax or stimulant laxatives and birth control.
