Do Later Day Saints (Mormons) believe in the Bible?

There is a slight confusion as to what they actually believe concerning the Bible. This is quote from what they call the Articles of Faith (there are 13 in all, now) Articles of Faith 8 “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.” This was extended to mean something wholly other than merely a translation from the Hebrew or Greek into English. Joseph Smith had this to say: “I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors” “I resumed the translation of the Scriptures. From sundry revelations which had been received, it was apparent that many important points touching the salvation of men, had been taken from the Bible, or lost before it was compiled” Even the Book of Mormon places a prophecy about itself in order to prove itself needed: 1 Nephi 13:28-29 28
