Do Jews believe that they are he chosen people?

Some do. God made a ‘covenant’ with Abraham. He told Abraham that if his family followed God and served him, he would protect them, give them a permanent home, and make them multiply. This was in the 18th chapter of Genesis. Now some Jews today believe that God simply chose Jews because he loves them, but in fact it was a contract with two sides. God promised to favor the Jews so long as they served him. It’s not a free gift. And in my observation, people of nearly every religion believes that God loves them more than other faiths, because their religion is closer to the truth, and that pleases God, and the other ‘false’ religions anger God. So it’s nothing unique among Jews. Christians, in particular, believed from just after the time of Jesus that the Jews had lost their covenant with God because they killed their own Messiah. They believe there is a ‘new covenant’ with Christians.
