do items don’t paste properly into MyCruftyApplication; can this be fixed?
Older applications that do not understand Unicode will show question marks, boxes, or other incorrect text in place of any pasted characters they can’t handle — typically the priority markers, but also any special characters you may have used in item names or notes. There is really nothing we can do about this. However, you should be able to paste properly into Apple’s TextEdit or any other Unicode-aware application.
