Do interested licensees have to make an application to have limited licensed areas added to their premises?

Yes. A licensee must submit an Application for Washrooms, Hallways, Stairwells and Other Similar Areas, along with a sketch of the newly proposed limited licensed areas and adjoining licensed areas, to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The newly proposed limited licensed areas must be outlined in a clearly defined manner and the licensee must consent to a related licence condition that is outlined on the application form. The application needs to be fully approved by the AGCO before a licensee may permit liquor to be taken into these areas by patrons. Permitting liquor in these areas prior to full approval by the AGCO and a change to the liquor sales licence will subject a licensee to possible discipline under the Liquor Licence Act and its regulations. The Application for Washrooms, Hallways, Stairwells and Other Similar Areas is now available by request to the AGCO or on the AGCO website at www.agco.on.ca .
