It does appear that use of metformin may increase the number of mature eggs retrieved. For example, among many diabetics both insulin and glucose are elevated. The incidence of congenital anomalies is well known to be higher in these patients. This means something is adversely affecting development with bad perinatal results. At the gamete (egg) level, similar blocks to normal growth may also exist.
