Do infrastructure bottlenecks impede the growth of logistics sector?
That is a major challenge but things are changing with the Golden Quadrilateral project, roads are getting better, freight corridors are coming up, all of which is making a huge difference. There is a complete change in the way the logistics industry itself is being looked at. Logistics was never considered an industry till a couple of years ago. It was considered only as a means to sell products within some four walls and a roof and warehousing people were not taken seriously. Today, IIMs and Symbiosis are offering logistics courses. The perception has changed even among the Central and state governments. For instance, earlier Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation never recognised us, now they are opening up space for warehouses. Opportunities for Indian logistics companies are much bigger.
