Do inflatable life vests on commercial planes fit babies? Are there special ones for babies?
Answers above are WRONG. There ARE in fact infant life vests provided on board aircraft. These are provided by the company and come in two styles. One style is a more traditional life vest with a little part that goes underneath the baby’s bottom to keep them upright and inside the vest. The other (and in my opinion better) is called a “baby boat”. It looks like an inflatable tube but is sort of conical-shaped. One end opens with a zipper and the baby is placed inside, then the opening is re-zipped. this opening is a clear plastic that allows mom and dad to see their baby inside. These are better because they keep the baby dry. Infants have a very low tolerance for heat loss and these help to delay the onset of hypothermia.
