Do Indian husbands require their non Indian wives to wear their traditional dress when going out?
Well more than the male Indian wear, the female traditional Indian attire, yeah the sari is more identified with India. Plus a sari looks very beautiful on a woman. Since you went to an Indian store, the woman was probably wearing a sari to promote the store or something. But no, Indians do not have to wear a sari as a part of their religious duty.
