Yes, remove the carbon out of the cartridge, or if you are unable to do that, remove the cartridge entirely. Do not turn the filter off. If you leave the carbon in the filter, the medicine will be absorbed and the fish won’t get any of it. Also, when medicating, a side effect is the oxygen ratio in the tank will be lower, so, keep the filter running for oxygenation purposes.
