Do I need to train for the DRANZCOG to practise antenatal shared care?
The shared care programs are developed on an individual basis between the intra partum care giver(s) and shared care provider. It would be considered beneficial if the shared care givers had the DRANZCOG but as the document says , it is not essential. Shared care givers should be credentialled by the hospitals that are providing the intrapartum care as outlined in the document. The JCCO has endorsed a policy – Shared Antenatal Care For Low Risk Obstetric Patients. A copy of this policy can be requested from the JCCO Secretariat at the RACGP.
