Do I need to take precautions if friends or relatives from a SARS affected area come to stay?
No special precautions need to be taken. The WHO (World Health Organisation) recommends that contacts of known SARS cases should not travel for at least 10 days. In addition there are temperature checks and health declaration screenings at airports so that it is unlikely that a person with SARS will travel to the UK. However, be aware of the symptoms of SARS and if your guest becomes unwell, phone your GP or NHS Helpline (0800 224488).
