Do i need to take a theory test for a 125cc motorbike?

If you are happy to ride your 125cc on learner “L” plates, then – NO – you do not need to take a theory test. You just need to pass the Compulsory Basic Test (CBT). This is a practical course to teach you the basics of riding a bike on the road. It allows you to ride the 125cc on learner plates for a maximum of 2 years (then you have to take the CBT again or go for your full bike licence). If you want to ride a 125cc bike without learner plates then – YES – you need to take a theory test, and then go on to pass your Part1 and Part2 of a practical bike test for a full licence.
