V B is right. You do need to get changed with Social Security Admin. I’m getting married soon. I’ve seen name-change kits you can pick up that have everything you need and checklists to make sure you report to every agency that will need to know. I’m not sure on a price range, but I don’t think they’re that expensive. Otherwise, just get right with Social Security, at least. Also, when you file your 2008 tax returns, on the return list your first name and middle initial in the first name box, and in the last name box list your maiden AND last names. This will usually help in not causing a delay. The IRS does NOT always figure it out. That way when the cross reference your records they have your maiden name and your new last name there as well. Then, in 2009 your tax returns should be able to be filed normally after that. Hope this helps!!
