Do I need to make reservations when I travel with Interrail?
Reservations are generally not required, although they are recommended for busy times and routes. Reservations can be made at the larger European train stations. Reservations are required for most high-speed trains such as the TGV and for night / sleeper trains, especially if you want a couchette during an overnight journey. See the overview of supplements. Often you can avoid compulsory reservations by taking an alternative (slower) route. See the page about Train reservations.
