While it’s great that you are concerned about the health of your family, being out at a restaurant is not the proper place to comment on their eating habits. People who are overweight, know they are overweight. People who smoke know its harmful. Pointing out things to people who aren’t asking for advice is generally a social deterrent. I am 20 pounds over my ideal weight. I dined with a friend who always commented on my choice of entrees. She would tell me how much fat is in this, maybe I should try the turkey burger instead of the bacon cheeseburger, that dressing will clog your arteries. Needless to say, It was not enjoyable and I no longer go to restaurants with her.
