No, you won’t need a visa since you’ll be in Japan less than three months. Your passport will serve as a tourist visa for up to 90 days. This applies to U.S. and Canadian citizens. Obviously, Japanese citizens would use their Japanese passports to enter the country, and would need to show a valid visa to return to the U.S. or Canada.
