Do I need to be an American citizen or live in the United States to adopt through Lifetime Adoption ?
We have been able to work with adoptive parents living in other countries, as long as they are legal U.S. citizens and have completed a home study. Also, we can work with foreigners who are living in the U.S. and have a home study. Your first step would be to fill out an application. We would be happy to give you a referral to an overseas social worker for your home study once this is done. We work with only a small number of international families at one time, and each family is approved on a case by case basis. We have had great success with military families stationed abroad. We appreciate the service these families make for our country and are proud to be able to assist them as we are able. If you have questions about whether we can work with you, the first step is to fill out our application. We will let you know, based on our experience, if there may be concerns.
