Yes, you’ll need to have an active AdWords account in order to use Website Optimizer. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up. Be aware, however, that you can run an experiment on any site or page that you like, not just one that you direct traffic to using AdWords. Website Optimizer tests all traffic, not just traffic from AdWords campaigns.
