Do I need permission to include images in PowerPoint presentations or in teaching materials in the VLE?

You must not use copyrighted images in presentations or teaching materials without permission. Images from within books or journals published in the UK (with the exception of Penguin) are covered by the CLA Photocopying and Scanning Licence. For further details, see CLA Photocopying and Scanning Licence. For any image not covered by the CLA Licence you will need to seek permission from the rights-owner first (publisher or author’s agent). You might find some freely available image collections of use, but check the terms and conditions of use first to make sure. Do not assume that because an image is on a web page, or retrieved through the Google Images search, that you can make use of it.
