Do I Need live Rock in a Fish Only aquarium?
Live rock is inhabited by smaller microorganisms that have attached themselves to a “dead” rock. That’s the only difference. Your tank will thrive with the microorganisms, but the fish and the aquarium itself will be fine without the live rock. You also do not need a power head if you have a power filter as it should supply a good current in a small tank like 30g.
