Do I need Associates in Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice to become a police officer?

No, but it would greatly enhance your opportunities to enter the law enforcement profession. Robeson Community College currently offers the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program and it is required of all students who wish to become a police officer. Many law enforcement agencies now require an Associates Degree and many also offer salary bonuses for individuals who have an Associates degree. Students must be at least 20 years old to enroll in BLET so we encourage younger students to complete their Associates degree and then enroll in Basic Law Enforcement Training once they have reached the age of 20. Please visit our BLET website for more information.
