Do I need any special equipment to keep White Mountain Minnows?
What you need is a different tank. I’m not trying to be harsh here, because I’m sure nobody would have told you this, but your tank was way too small for comets. They need 200 litres per fish, or they will die either from ammonia poisoning or organ failure as their growth is stunted. In a proper tank, they can live 20 years or more. No one on here should blame you for this – pet shops told us our two comets would be happy in 15 litres. Then I did research. Boy, were the pet shops wrong. It’s no wonder one of them died. Whilst white cloud mountain minnows are a lot smaller and a much easier choice for most hobbyists, even they won’t be able to live happily in 11 litres. That’s not even big enough for a betta, which is the only fish capable of being content (not super happy, but content) in less than 20 litres. Minnows themselves need at least that, with more being better. They are active little dudes who should be kept in groups of five. They don’t need anything other than a filter, but
