Do I need a Wideband oxygen sensor in order for the standalone aftermarket EFI system to work properly?
Though some standalone aftermarket EFI systems will work without a wideband O2 sensor, we highly recommend that the initial tune be obtained while using at least a stand alone wideband O2, such as those found at most dyno facilities. Though it is possible to safely tune your engine without it, tuning with a wideband O2 consistently produces the best results in the fewest iterations. Using an standalone aftermarket EFI wideband O2 sensor option with your standalone aftermarket EFI will allow you to operate your system in closed-loop mode which will allow the system to accommodate factors that might otherwise impact the performance of your engine. Though the initial price may be prohibitive, the first time it prevents you from burning up your engine it will have paid for itself!
