It does not matter who, or how you come to Egypt you need a visa either you get it before you come or you get it there in your port of arrival its 100Le about 10£ that means border, sea ferry or airport, I know you are asking whether you need it before you travel and the answer is NO

You need a visa as well as a current passport to enter Egypt, if you are not an Egyptian citizen. You can obtain the visa in you home country or just as easily at the airport when you land in Cairo. A separate visa is not required to go to Taba.

Not if you’re staying in the Sinai but if you’re moving around like going to Cairo you’ll need to buy one which you can get at the airport when you land.

When you fly into Sharm el Sheikh or Taba in Sinai you have tho option of a free Sinai only stamp which entitles you to 15 days stay in Sinai, or a full Egyptian visa which costs $15/£10 and entitles you to 28 days stay in Egypt. With a Sinai only stamp you can only travel along the gulf of Aqaba coast between Taba and Sharm in the south, it is also possible to visit St Catherine’s monastery and the coloured canyon. You cannot visit the Ras Mohammed national park, Cairo or Luxor without purchasing the full Egyptian visa. It is possible to head over the Israeli and Jordanian borders without a visa. If you intend to stay in Egypt over 28 days it is necessary to get the full visa, and go to El Tur, 1hrs drive along the gulf of Suez from Sharm el Sheikh (three to four hours from Taba) You must go to the government office and apply for a one year tourist residency (with optional six month re-entry visa). This can be done in a day.
