Do I need a THX certified surround receiver?

0

The Onkyo TX SR507 5.1 receiver is going to have almost everything a THX certified receiver is going to have in a 5.1 configuration, there are also some by other manufactures Pioneer etc… THX was started by Lucas films because they wanted the sound for there movies to be reproduced as was intended… , it started in theaters and later was introduced in home equipment…home equipment must meet certain sound levels with out strain…it is most difficult for amps to meet this as they have to have a certain damping factor and head room at the needed volume..it is basically an assurance of quality but you pay extra for it too, if you know what to look for you can get good quality sound from regular home products, many manufactures offer the same amp configuration in a non THX certified receiver for less money some do not…so you need to know what to look for such as damping factor and head room…..
