No. No special machine or equipment are needed. You can sew leather shoes on your regular sewing machine. All you need is a leather needle (available at most sewing stores), ordinary polyester thread, scissors or rotary cutter, a washable glue stick, paperclips (to hold pieces instead of pins) and an ordinary ballpoint pen.
