Do I need a special hood for perchloric acid use?

0

If heated Perchloric acid is used in a standard fume hood, the hot Perchloric acid vapors can react with the metal in the hood ductwork to form shock sensitive metallic perchlorates. Therefore, if fuming perchloric acid is used, then it must be used in a special perchloric acid fume hood with a wash down feature. Please contact EH&S for assistance in selecting a hood.
