Although GLN and SSCC should be recorded in separate databases from other EAN.UCC System identification numbers and fields within electronic messages and barcodes to avoid confusion, both can still use the same EAN.UCC Company Prefix assigned for Global Trade Item Number (GTIN). In additional, the same EAN/UCC-13 identification number can be allocated to a trade item as well as to a location.
