DO I NEED A PERMIT TO ACCESS THE BOUNDARY WATERS CANOE AREA WILDERNESS?

NO! Band members are not required to obtain a permit to access the BWCAW. Band members are required to have an 1854 ID Card in their possession (and display upon request) to assist Forest Service officals in doing routine permit checks. All members of the party must be Band members (or have a permit) and you are required to abide by all rules prescribed for the wilderness area. Please contact your local USFS office for prescribed rules and regulations.
