The modem (or your ISP) may have come with software that helps you to connect. It is possible that you don’t need the software because Windows can handle the connection. To allow Windows to make the connection, you want to enable DHCP in the properties for your Ethernet card – go to Start, Settings, Network and Dial-up Connections, Local Area Connection, Properties, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), press Properties, and select the “Obtain an IP address automatically” radio button. Click OK, OK, and Close. You’ll probably need to re-boot. After the re-boot, use the Internet connection wizard to setup your Internet connection.
