Do I need a building permit for a shed, deck, fence or pool or to finish my basement or for instillation of an air conditioner?
Building permits are required for a deck, in-ground or aboveground pool enclosure and to finish a basement: and may be required for a shed. Information relating to applying for a permit and zoning requirements is found at Building Permits Section or contact the Township’s Building Department. Building permits are not issued for fences, except where they are required as a pool enclosure; please note that the Town’s Fence By-law regulates the maximum height of fences. Building permits are not required for air conditioners/heat pumps etc.; the Town’s zoning By-law regulates the location of an air conditioner/heat pump etc. on your property. Please note that the subdivisions agreement affecting your lot may also restrict the location of an air conditioner/heat pump etc. If your lot grading is not approved by the Township, the Building Department cannot issue a pool or a pool Enclosure Permit.
