Do I let someone know when I want to come to the labour ward in or do I just turn up?
Please phone first for advice and so that a room can be allocated, notes obtained and the midwife who will be caring for you informed of your impending arrival. You may be advised to come in straight away, for example, if you were concerned about your baby’s movements, you were bleeding, your waters had broken or you were in established labour. Sometimes, after discussion with you, you may be given advice and be able to stay at home in the comfort of your own surroundings for longer.
