Yes, a RS-485 to RS-232 converter is required for the RS-485 Veri-Series reader network. The readers do not contain an integrated RS-485/RS-232 converter and therefore will not work if the reader closest to the PC is connected via RS-232 and then daisy-chained via RS-485. The converter should support “sense data” (automatic send data control). The 485TBLED converter from B&B Electronics is the suggested converter for use with the Veri-Series readers. It has been fully tested by Bioscrypt and will be fully supported by Technical Support. Bioscrypt cannot certify or support the use of any converter other than the suggested converter.
