Do I have to show proof of income from prior participation in commercial fishing to have a restricted species endorsement (RS) on my saltwater products license issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission?
If you are not yet 70, you must still provide acceptable proof of income from prior participation in commercial fishing to qualify for an RS. If you are 70, but have not held a FWC Saltwater Products License (SPL), you must show proof of income from prior participation in commercial fishing to qualify to add the Restricted Species Endorsement (RS) to your SPL. You will only be granted an exemption from the income requirement and be able to add the RS to your Individual SPL if you are: 1) age 70 or older and your FWC license records show that you held a Saltwater Products License (SPL) for 3 out of the last 5 years; or 2) you are a resident of Florida and you can provide acceptable proof of disability from the Railroad Retirement Board, U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Armed Forces, Social Security Administration or a licensed physician and you held the SPL for 3 of the last 5 years prior to the date of disability.
