Do I have to pay to use FurBuy?
Many are still under the impression that FurBuy is a pay service. The site originally started as a paid auction site, but we decided to make FurBuy a free service shortly after launch, due to the drastic costs of running a legitimate business. We do this DESPITE our costs and time for running the systems FurBuy operates on. We currently have one-quarter of a T1 line to ensure fast, smooth access to the site – these lines aren’t cheap and burn a hole in the pocket fairly quickly. On top of the monthly internet fees, we also have yearly renewal fees that must be paid. However, our largest investment in the system thus far has been the two powerhouse servers we have running the site, each one having cost us about $2,500 to build, and many hours of setup and configuration. We do not expect in the least to turn a profit from running FurBuy, we merely want to make sure the system is the best it can be.
