Hello I have a house that has a boiler in the basement…which I am told it on it last leg….and an aircondition with ducts running through the attic…..last year when we used it the ceiling in our bedroom fell in ( a pipe had frozen during the winter) I live in minnesota…than this year the water came out of the door jams…we had a mold inspector come and look and says we have mold, the ducts work is all screwed up and you have to tae out the fan to get to the mold…..he says I need a new airconditioner, duct work and a boiler( we have a boiler with forced air……I have been sick regularly in the house ..I am stay at home artist and frankly hardly ever leave…..the docs could not find out what was wrong with me ,,,we told them about the mold and they said that could be it….this guy wants 20,000 d0llars to do the job…any advide…thanks

Not necessarily. While false ceiling does reduce the cooling load when non ducted units are used, it is provided mostly for aesthetic purposes. If you have no problems with exposed ducts, you don’t have to provide false ceiling. Alternatively, flexible ducts with better finishes and Turbo Splits are also available.
