Well when I was 18 weeks preg I had an ultra sound and I drank a glass of water before my appointment but it wasnt like the first ultra sound I had at 6 weeks. You should be ok. Drink a little of water before you go.

It depends on where you go. My OB office makes you drink water before an ultrasound, but I also see a high risk perinatologist and the machines are much better there so it’s not necessary. That made my big ultrasound sooo much more comfortable this time. I remember I was miserable with my second sons ultrasound.

IT’S BETTER TO HAVE A FULL BLADDER, BECAUSE THE PICTURE OF THE BABY’S MORE CLEAR THAN WITH IT NOT BEING FULL. IT’S KIND OF LIKE IF YOU GO OUTSIDE WHEN IT’S TOTALLY DARK AND CAN’T REALLY SEE MUCH BUT SHADOWS-VERSES HAVING GONE OUTSIDE AND EVERYTHING HAS ‘GLOW IN THE DARK ON IT’.

when i had my ultrasound done at 18 weeks i was told to drink 32 oz of water and not to empty my bladder until after the ultrasound was done…it was not fun!! I had to pee so bad during the ultra sound but it was still so amazing to see my baby. Best of luck.

I’ve always drank a 500ml bottle of water finished 30 mins before the ultrasound and it’s been fine. Any more then that and I’m to uncomfortable and they make me pee in the cup because I’m to full. Once you feel you have to pee you can stop there.
