Do I have to configure my synth to work with TBX1?

Generally no, but sometimes yes. TBX1 automatically configures the unit connected to its MIDI OUT. The only thing you may have to do manually in most cases is select a mode on the synthesizer. The synthesizer has to be in Multitimbral Mode, in which MIDI is received on all channels, and each channel also produces MIDI output. Manufactures have different names for this mode, and different ways of getting there; check the synth’s manual. Once this mode is selected, when a TBX1 preset button is pressed, TBX1 selects a desired bank and patch, and then sets the bend range of all selected channels to 1 semitone using standard RPNs and Data Increment MIDI messages.
