Do i have to claim ALL my mileage on my income tax?

You can claim whatever expenses you want. If you don’t want to claim a specific expense, just reduce it. It can be mileage, tools, etc. the IRS doesn’t care if you don’t report all your deductions, only that you claim all your income.

You cannot inflate your income to qualify for EIC. Failing to claim all legitimate business miles would inflate your income.

If you worked for a company and did the work in the town that company is located in ..than you can NOT claim mileage as this would be your “TAX HOME” So simply put, if you stayed in the town and worked where that company is Iocated you can’t take any of it. If you travel outside of that area in your own vehicle for that company you can take only that mileage. I contracted too but worked mostly in the town the company that i contract from is in ( but traveled 75 plus miles both ways) and can’t take any mileage deductions for it.
